Lynette Ubel, Always an Artist
As a child Lynette knew she would be an artist, visualizing herself as a painter or illustrator. She selected classes throughout her schooling that fostered creativity and introduced her to various mediums including photography. Lynette attended the School of Fine Arts at the University of Kansas. A freshman advisor, who saw Lynette’s broad artistic talents, suggested she keep her hands in the fine arts by selecting elective classes such as photography, illustration and painting, but work toward a future in graphic design. Following that advice, Lynette received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications from The University of Kansas which would launch her into the professional world of advertising design.
After graduation Lynette worked with two different Kansas City based advertising agencies and then formed Ubel Design as Creative Director/Owner. She sees creativity as an infinite process and is grateful for opportunities to share her creative thinking and unique “designer eye” to help busnesses grow.
Ubel Images
Having owned and operated Ubel Design since 1989, Lynette started a second company in 2010, called Ubel Images. Lynette’s images, which span a variety of European, South American and Mexican locales, feature spectacular full-color photography printed on canvas and fine art paper. Her photographic images are infused with years of thinking as an artist and “seeing differently.”
Lynette credits her hands-on experince with art-directing hundreds of photo shoots with commercial photographers in conjunction with the advertising work Ubel Design creates. These photographers have been friends and valued mentors to her fine art photography. With almost daily exposure to selection and use of photography, Lynette challenges herself to capture the beauty she observes with an artistic, yet critical, eye.
Personal
Lynette Darling Ubel lives with her husband in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. Their daughter and son attend universities in the Midwest. Her husband is a Chemical Engineer by degree and works internationally for a company headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. As a result of her husband’s worldwide business meetings, Lynette has been fortunate to travel several times a year with him to the fabulous places reflected in Ubel Images photography.
